If you ever find yourself wondering through the streets of Utrecht, make sure to visit the small local stores selling art and clothing, or take a break in one of the city's stylish cafes. Find all the spots worth visiting with the app Puha Shop Route, available for iOS or Android devices. The app was designed by The Projects agency.

Application functionality

The second version of the app Puha Shop Route features a new design and an updated list of shops. The app lets you take pre-planned theme routes (fashion, food, etc.), or visit all the shops participating in the Puha Shop Route. Furthermore, the app lets you search through the spots, images of the locations on the integrated Google Maps, points you to the nearest store according to your location, or lets you save your favorite stores.

Technical implementation

We programmed the app using the PhoneGap framework. You can learn more about this solution on our blog. Essentially, PhoneGap is a so-called wrapper that lets the user develop the app in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, while using the functions of the phone. The app features several built-in functions such as GPS localization (geolocalization), notifications or file management. The implemented Google Maps API navigates the user into the nearest shop.
